Katy Perry

Better known by her stage name Katy Perry, Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson was born on October 25, 1984 in Santa Barbara, California. The middle child of two pastors, she has an older sister and younger brother. Baptized a born again Christian, Katy Perry was incorporated to her parents’ ministry, and she started singing in their church from age nine to sixteen. At age 15 she was brought to Nashville, Tennessee by country music veterans to polish her song writing skills.

She signed to the Christian music label Red Hill, under which she recorded her first album which was released in 2002 and entitled Katy Hudson. It was named after her legal name which she later changed due to the fame of actress Kate Hudson. On June 17, 2008, she released her breakthrough album, One of the Boys. The album features the hit singles “I Kissed a Girl”, which reached number one on the Billboard 100 and “Hot N Cold”. The album has sold over 2 million copies worldwide and has been certified platinum by the RIAA. Perry’s songs, particularly “Ur So Gay” and “I Kissed a Girl”, have generated controversies upon their release. On May 16, 2009, Perry performed at the opening ceremony of the annual Life Ball in Vienna, Austria.

Green Day

Green Day is an American rock trio consisting of Billie Joe Armstrong (vocals, guitar), Mike Dirnt (bass guitar, vocals), and Tré Cool (drums, percussion). The band was formed in 1987. The band adopted the name Green Day, allegedly due to their fondness for the drug marijuana. Green Day released it’s debut album, 39/Smooth in 1990 on Lookout! Records but it wasn’t a commercial success and most fans rate is as being only average. On January 17, 1992, the band released Kerplunk!.

The album went on to become one of the bestselling independent albums ever and Green Day realised that they had outgrown the independent label and eventually signed with Reprise Records. Under Reprise Records they released Dookie on February 1, 1994. It would go on and become a worldwide commercial success, reaching number two on the U.S. Billboard 200 and charting in seven countries. Since then Green Day has gone on to release five more albums, Insomniac (1995), Nimrod (1997), Warning (2000), American Idiot (2004) and 21st Century Breakdown (2009) . Since it’s inception Green Day has sold over 22 million records in the United States. They have also won three Grammy Awards, Best Alternative Album for Dookie, Best Rock Album for American Idiot, and Record of the Year for Boulevard of Broken Dreams.


Known by his stage name Nelly, Cornell Haynes, Jr. was born in St. Louis on November 2, 1974. He has performed with the rap group St. Lunatics since 1993 and was signed to Universal Records in 1999. On June 27, 2000, Nelly released his debut album, Country Grammar. It debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 and went on to peak at number one. The first single released was the song “Country Grammar (Hot Shit). Other singles from the album include “E.I.,” “Ride Wit Me,” and “Batter Up.” It has been certified 3x platinum. In 2002, Nelly released his sophomore album, Nellyville.

The album debuted at number one on the Billboard charts and nominated for “Album of the Year” at the 2003 Grammys. In 2004, he released Suit, which debuted at the number one position with over three hundred thousand copies sold it’s first week. It received a Grammy nomination. That same year Nelly released Sweat. It wasn’t as popular as Suit debuting at number two on the Billboard 200, while in the same week, the Suit album debuted at #1 on the same chart. The tracks “Flap Your Wings,” “Na-Nana-Na,” and “Tilt Ya Head Back” were released as singles.


Trina was born as Katrina Laverne Taylor on December 3, 1978 in Miami, Florida. She is of African American and Dominican descent. She graduated from Miami Northwestern High School and after high school she worked office jobs at AT&T and United Parcel Service. She also studied real estate. Through the label Slip-N-Slide Records, Da Baddest Bitch, Trina’s debut album was released in 2000. The album contains the singles “Da Baddest Bitch” and “Pull Over”. The album peaked at number 33 on the Billboard 200 charts and sold over 700,000 copies in the US.

Trina followed up the success of Da Baddest Bitch with the release of her second album, Diamond Princess. The album contains the singles “Told Y’all” featuring Rick Ross, “No Panties” featuring Tweet, and “B R Right” featuring Ludacris. On October 4, 2005, Trina released her third album Glamorest Life. The album debuted on The Billboard 200 chart at #11 with 77,000 albums sold the first week. She has since done two more albums, Still da Baddest (2008) and Amazin'(which is scheduled to be released in September of 2009). Trina is currently in a relationship with NBA Denver Nuggets Power Forward Kenyon Martin.

Nicole Scherzinger

Nicole Scherzinger was born with the quite lengthy name Nicole Prescovia Elikolani Valiente Scherzinger on June 29, 1978 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She is also known by the name Nicole Kea. She was born to a Filipino father and a Russian/Hawaiian mother. Her mother Rosemary was eighteen at the time of Nicole Scherzinger’s birth and lived in an inner city neighborhood. Nicole’s parents separated when she was a baby. The family moved to Louisville, Kentucky when she was only six years old. She studied acting and musical theatre at Wright State University bu abandoned her studies to sing backing vocals for the rock band Days of the New.

Nicole Scherzinger appeared on the second album by Days of the New, released in 1999. In 2001, Scherzinger competed in the premiere season of The WB’s television show Popstars, on which she earned a spot in the all-girl pop group Eden’s Crush. She became one of the main vocalists for the group. The band disbanded in 2002. In 2003 Nicole Scherzinger joined the Pussycat Dolls burlesque troupe, who were being re-cast as recording artists. The band’s debut was PCD and it was released in September of 2005. The album has sold in excess of 7 million copies worldwide. From about 2006 until the present day Nicole Scherzinger has been working on her debut album tentatively titled “Her Name Is Nicole”. It’s release date hasn’t of yet been set.

Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham was born Victoria Adams on April 17, 1974 in Harlow, Essex. Victoria Beckham’s father was an electronics engineer and the success of the family business meant a wealthy upbringing for Victoria and her two siblings, Louise and Christian. At 17, she attended Laine Theatre Arts College and studied dance and modeling. Victoria Beckham joined the girl group Spice Girls in 1994. It featured the following members, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and Melanie Chisholm. The group’s first single, “Wannabe”, went to number one in the UK and the United States and India, and would be followed by eight other successful number one singles from their albums, Spice, Spiceworld and Forever.

In August of 2000 she released her first solo single, “Out of Your Mind” in collaboration with Dane Bowers and Truesteppers. She has since released four singles, Not Such An Innocent Girl, A Mind of Its Own, Let Your Head Go and This Groove. She started dating soccer player David Beckham in 1997 after they had met at a charity soccer match, prompting him to request a meeting with her. The couple announced their engagement in 1998 and were dubbed “Posh and Becks” by the media. They were married at Luttrellstown Castle, Ireland on 4 July 1999.
